EL ORÍGEN DE LAS MODAS Y SUS SIGNIFICADOS
Traje sencillo que debe su nombre a Mao Zedong (1893-1976), dirigente de la República Popular China. Confeccionado en crespón negro y de líneas rectas, consiste en pantalón y chaqueta de manga larga, cuello alto y abotonado delante. Se puso de moda primero en Londres en los años sesenta, pero en París se adaptó enseguida como prenda femenina. La popularidad que alcanzó en la década de 1960 tuvo que ver con las tendencias unisex y con el entusiasmo juvenil por la política de izquierdas.También se denomina así al cuello.
